Package Unit Installation, Replacement & Repair in Cullman, AL

All-in-One Heating and Cooling for Homes and Light Commercial Buildings

We Sell the Best and Service the Rest

A package unit puts the whole system in one outdoor cabinet, ground-mounted beside the building or set on the roof, instead of splitting it between an indoor air handler and an outdoor condenser. That makes it the standard choice for mobile and manufactured homes, houses with no basement or limited indoor space, and a lot of light commercial buildings around Cullman County. Bama Air Systems installs, replaces and repairs packaged systems throughout North Alabama. Call 256-734-4181 or choose the service you need below.

We have worked on Cullman County equipment since 1989 and service every major package unit brand, including Daikin and Goodman gas-electric, all-electric and heat pump models. Because the entire system sits outdoors, weather exposure accelerates wear, so these units reward regular attention more than a split system does.

What Our Package Unit Work Covers

Having everything in a single cabinet changes both the advantages and the failure modes. Service access is straightforward because nothing is buried in a closet or crawlspace, and no indoor floor area is given up to equipment. The trade-off is that the compressor, coils, blower and, on gas-electric models, the burners all live outside in Alabama weather year-round.

    Where We Work

Packaged Equipment We Install

The Daikin packaged heat pumps we fit cover both ends of the range. The DP3HM delivers up to 13.4 SEER2 cooling and up to 6.7 HSPF2 heating from an energy-efficient scroll compressor with an internal relief valve, in capacities from 2 to 5 tons. The DP5HM steps up to a two-stage scroll compressor and up to 15.2 SEER2 with the same 6.7 HSPF2 heating rating, in a self-contained cabinet designed for multi-position installation. Two-stage operation matters more than the headline number on a packaged system, since running at low stage most of the time gives steadier temperatures and less wear on a unit that is already working in the weather.

Warning Signs Worth a Service Call

Unusual noises, weak airflow, temperatures that will not hold steady, frequent cycling, ice forming on the unit, and energy bills climbing without a change in use all warrant a diagnostic. On gas-electric models, ignition trouble or burner problems are the heating-season equivalent. We carry common parts on the truck, which is why many package unit repairs can be finished on the first visit, and with regular maintenance these systems typically last 15 to 20 years.

Package Unit FAQs

  • What is a package unit and how is it different?

A package unit combines the heating and cooling components in a single outdoor cabinet, usually mounted on the ground or roof, instead of using separate indoor and outdoor units. This design is common on mobile homes and some commercial buildings, and it changes how certain repairs are performed.

  • When is a package unit the right choice?

Package units are a good fit for homes with limited indoor space, mobile and manufactured homes, and many light commercial buildings, since all the equipment is housed in one outdoor cabinet. We assess your property and recommend the right configuration.

  • What are common package unit problems?

Typical issues include refrigerant leaks, compressor or fan motor failure, clogged coils, thermostat faults, and, on gas-electric models, ignition or burner problems. Because the whole system sits outdoors, weather exposure can accelerate wear.

  • Do you offer emergency package unit repair?

Yes, 24/7 across Cullman and North Alabama. We carry common parts so many repairs can be completed on the first visit.
